The Art of Scheduling Assessment Interviews: Why Timing and Spacing Matter

Apr 14, 2026

Don’t Rush the Process — Schedule With Intention

Once the interview list is set, the next challenge is scheduling. While it may be tempting to stack interviews back‑to‑back, especially in large assessments, thoughtful spacing is essential — particularly early in the process.

“The time between interviews is where the real analysis begins.”

Spacing interviews allows the assessment team to reflect on what they heard, refine questions, and adjust the interview guide based on emerging patterns. It also creates space to brief the client: What’s working? What’s surprising? What needs to shift?

Why Blitz Scheduling Isn’t Always the Best Approach

Yes, we’ve done 65 interviews in two weeks — and sometimes that’s necessary. But when possible, early interviews benefit from breathing room. This is where you identify gaps, uncover unexpected systems or processes, and recalibrate your approach.

As the assessment progresses, interviews often build on one another. Insights from one conversation shape the next. That iterative learning is what makes the assessment meaningful.

“Interviews aren’t isolated events — they’re a chain of insights that build toward clarity.”
